Marmomacc for 80 years of Casabella
Marmomacc is delighted to share with Casabella the pleasure of celebrating its first 80 years by offering audiences the meeting between two protagonists in the world panorama such as Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura in the scenario of the Cengelle quarry, where Morseletto has for many years worked raw materials for major works of architecture. Marmomacc shares with Casabella the desire to create value for designers, architects and engineers through culture. The use of materials boasting traditions going back thousands of years such as marble and stone in short requires continual analysis in technological and cultural terms. This is why Marmomacc emerges as a system ready to respond to every input and always proposing new approaches. Marmomacc's support for the initiatives celebrating 80 years of Casabella are therefore a hallmark of a precise cultural commitment shared with this historical magazine: narrate what we can learn from architecture, marble and stone. Casabella and Marmomacc welcome you to two conferences with Alvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura in the Cengelle quarry at Pederiva di Grancona (Vicenza:) on Friday 20 June at 19.00. A "Quarrymen Dinner" will be offered. Tickets for these events are numbered: kindly register through eventi.casabella@mondadori.it
Marmomacc presents Kengo Kuma at UIA
28 June-3 July: attention will move to the XXIII UIA World Congress of Architects in Turin, scheduled at the Lingotto and Palavela multi-purpose centres. Marmomacc could hardly not take part in such a prestigious event. It will be a particularly appropriate occasion to highlight the rewarding collaboration established with one of the masters of international design, who has helped open up new horizons in the use of stone: Kengo Kuma. Marmomacc in short will set up at the Oval – the evocative multi-purpose structure built between Lingotto and the Olympic Village for the Winter Olympics in 2006 - a stand exploiting the innovative module created by the Japanese architect for Il Casone within the scope of Marmomacc Meets Design 2007. The stand will not only offer the opportunity to discover and purchase Marmomacc publications going back forty years but also to analyse the training offering in the stone industry promoted by Italian universities, thanks to daily attendance on the stand buy professors responsible for specific courses. Over and above the singular homage by the stand module to the technical and creative skill of architect the Japanese, Marmomacc will also support the presence of Kuma at the UIA Congress by promoting a workshop with an emblematic title: SOFT-STONE Origami of stone (Monday 30 June, 17.00, Lingotto, Hall London). Here, Kuma will discuss the many and varied aspects of stone as employed in his works. For enrolments and information: www.marmomacc.com, www.uia2008torino.org, www.unito.it. Kuma will also be among the protagonists of the "lectio magistralis" inaugurating the Congress (30/06) and the meeting on the following day dedicated to libraries.
