Main factors affecting stone processing

1. Hardness
Generally, the harder the stone is, the more difficult the stone processing. And the wear to tool is also bigger. Because the harder of stone, the stronger abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance, and bigger cutting resistance.

2. Mineral composition and chemical composition
The components of stone include mineral composition and chemical composition. Different mineral composition and chemical composition have different workability. For example, the main rock-forming minerals of marble are calcite, dolomite. Their Mohs harnesses are 3 and 3.5-4, lower than granite, and stone processing is easier. The main rock-forming minerals of granite are quartz, orthoclase, plagioclase, their Mohs harnesses are 6.5-7. Its workability is largely depends on the content of quartz and feldspar, the more the harder. In chemical components, the more content of SiO2, the more difficult to stone processing.
3. The structure of rock
Generally speaking, the uniform grain is easier to process than uneven grain. Fine grain has better quality than platy after polished. Dense stone has high glossiness than loose ones. If the mineral crystallized have good degree, direction arrangement and same bearing of optical axis will greatly improve the glossiness after stone processing.
