Travertine cleaning

Once you know about the characteristics and qualities of travertine, travertine cleaning can be easy. With proper cleaning, it will look fabulous for long terms.
Travertine is delicate, warm and beautiful with its unique pattern and color, which complements almost any design.
Travertine is a stone but not as dense and hard as granite. It can be wear well and last forever but it can be etched easily as marble and limestone as it is sensitive to acidic items.
Sealing can prevent staining. Travertine can stain when honed or tumbled, while polished travertine is nearly stain-proof and usually doesn't need sealing.
As the etching problem, travertine is not recommended for kitchen countertop or heavily used bathroom. However travertine floor tile will be just fine in any room. Travertine's best use is for powder baths, table tops, tub surrounds, showers, floor tile and stone fireplace surrounds.

Do: Dry up spills immediately.
Do: Clean surfaces with a sponge or soft cloth.

Do: Use door mats inside and out along with runners and area rugs.
Don't: Use generic, store-bought travertine cleaning products.
Don't: Use vinegar, ammonia, lemon or orange for travertine cleaning.
Don't: Use generic bathroom, tub & tile or grout cleaners for travertine cleaning.
Don't: Sit or stand on the travertine countertops.
Don't: Put toiletry products on countertop surface directly.
